This course is for those taking on the role of Authorised Person (MGPS), with responsibility for the safe operation, installation and maintenance of medical gas pipeline systems. The course is for those with little or no prior knowledge of medical gas pipeline systems and includes a significant proportion of practical work. Theory alongside practical teaching is a fundamental part of the course, including the setting up, operation and modification of the live medical gas system at Eastwood Park.

Note: Weekly testing is identified in guidance as a Competent Person (Decontamination) task. Since this is historically due to the necessary access requirements of older sterilizers it is feasible that organisations, with advice from their AE(D), might elect to delegate this task to the responsible users.
