Large porous load sterilizers - quarterly testing (to NHS guidance)

This course is for healthcare staff required to operate and/or weekly test large steam sterilizers used for wrapped surgical instruments and other medical devices. Note: Weekly testing is identified in guidance as a Competent Person (Decontamination) task. Since this is historically due to the necessary access requirements of older sterilizers it is feasible that organisations, with advice from their AE(D), might elect to delegate this task to the responsible users.

This course is aimed at National Health staff and contractors required to perform the duties of a Competent Person (Decontamination) as defined in NHS Guidance. Pharmaceutical staff could find this course of benefit as evidence of training.

This course is for mobile maintenance and service engineering staff required to complete periodic validation and verification tests on small benchtop N or B type sterilizers used in dental or other healthcare clinics. This course is suitable for individuals with prior experience* of testing and/or in-depth maintenance of such equipment.

This Introduction to decontamination operations course is intended for anyone who has a need to know about decontamination but who is not familiar with it - members of the board, estates and facilities managers from other backgrounds, other stakeholders. It is also suitable preparation for attendees on our DLR - Decontamination lead - role & responsibilities (to NHS guidance) course who do not consider their knowledge and experience to be current.

This course is aimed at National Health Service staff and others in the private sector who have responsibility for the management and production of all sterile services and goods. These include Sterile Services managers, supervisors and those designated the ‘User’ as defined in NHS guidance.

This course provides the knowledge and skills for people involved in the management of flexible endoscope decontamination, either in dedicated endoscope units or sterile services departments; Users, decontamination leads and estate managers. This course does NOT cover the hands-on practice of decontamination (by the Operator) and periodic testing of automated endoscope reprocessors.

This course has been devised to meet the needs of those taking on the role of Decontamination Lead as specified in current NHS guidance.
