This course is for Responsible and Authorised Persons working within the area of water safety in a healthcare environment. It goes beyond traditional Legionella and Pseudomonas training, covering the physical, chemical and microbiological risks associated with water distribution systems within healthcare buildings, as well as the role of the Water Safety Group and Water Safety Plan.

This course is for healthcare technicians working within the area of water safety in a healthcare environment. It goes beyond traditional Legionella and Pseudomonas training, covering the physical, chemical and microbiological risks associated with water distribution systems within healthcare buildings, as well as the role of the Water Safety Group and Water Safety Plan.

Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 requires healthcare organisations to establish a Water Safety Group (WSG). This group must ensure that there is the appropriate expertise available to fully implement all elements of the Water Safety Plan. Therefore it must include staff who are familiar with all water systems and associated equipment, factors that may increase risk of waterborne pathogens and have knowledge of the particular vulnerabilities of the at-risk population within the facility.

Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 requires good practice from those responsible for the design, installation, commissioning and operation of water systems in healthcare premises, including compliance with all parts of HTM 04-01, ACoP L8, HSG274 and the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations. This course is for individuals involved in all aspects of engineering projects relating to healthcare water systems, from design through to handover, to those responsible for ongoing operation and maintenance.

To assist with understanding and mitigating the risks associated with waterborne hazards in the water distribution systems and associated equipment, healthcare organisations are required to develop a Water Safety Plan, as set out in Health Technical Memorandum 04-01. This course is for individuals who will be required to assist in the development of Water Safety Plans.

Health Technical Memorandum 04-01 requires that any person working on the water distribution systems or cleaning and flushing water outlets must undergo adequate training so that they can gain an understanding of the need for good hygiene. This course is for individuals who require an understanding of water hygiene and microbiological control appropriate to their roles and responsibilities.

This course is for Responsible Persons working within the area of water safety who require refresher training. In addition to the roles and responsibilities for maintaining safe water systems, this course will develop your ability to assess your organisation's current level of compliance and exposure to risks and give you the knowledge and skills to take action to improve compliance and reduce risks.

ACoP L8 and HSG 274 parts 1, 2 and 3 requires individuals appointed to devise strategies, develop procedures, carry out control measures and undertake associated maintenance and monitoring must receive adequate training. It is essential that technicians and operational staff have an overall appreciation of the practices affecting water hygiene and safety and can interpret guidance and perform their tasks in a safe and technically competent manner.

This course will be delivered by our trainer via Microsoft Teams. Learners will receive invitations for the Teams session ahead of the event and learning resources will be delivered to a location requested by the booker such that the learner has the materials before the course start date. The course assessment will require learners to access our online assessment portal.

This course is for individuals with the responsibility for undertaking a Legionella risk assessment, or for ensuring one is carried out. It requires basic knowledge of the management of risk in water systems, so learners should have previously attended Eastwood Park's Legionella Awareness Course (or an equivalent).

This course is for individuals responsible for implementing Legionella management policies and procedures and maintaining a logbook and appropriate records within the building premises. This course requires basic knowledge of the management of risk in water systems, so you should have previously attended Eastwood Park’s Legionella Awareness Course (or an equivalent).

This course is for managers and engineers who are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of water systems within buildings, specifically cooling tower water systems.
