Legionella log book awareness
This course is for individuals responsible for implementing Legionella management policies and procedures and maintaining a logbook and appropriate records within the building premises. This course requires basic knowledge of the management of risk in water systems, so you should have previously attended Eastwood Park’s Legionella Awareness Course (or an equivalent).
Description
There is a legal duty for the duty holder of building premises to carry out a Legionella risk assessment and from this, develop a written scheme of control, implement processes to manage and control identified risks and ensure that appropriate records are kept.
The Legionella logbook is instrumental in ensuring the management responsibilities; control processes and record keeping are implemented.
Aim
To provide learners with the statutory and practical knowledge to develop and maintain logbooks and statutory records required for compliance.
Objectives
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- State the requirements of legislation and regulations for water distribution systems.
- Describe the prominent waterborne pathogens – occurrence, ecology and transmission routes.
- State the elements of a risk assessment, written scheme of control, risk minimisation plan as part of the logbook system.
- Describe the constituent parts of a suitable logbook system.
- Demonstrate the knowledge required to develop a logbook system and the format and layout of the written documentation.
